This chapter teaches how a spirit of fear operates and gets a legal right to torment you.  Don't learn to live with fear, instead learn to overcome your fears, through the Power of Christ.  Learn about the cycle of sowing and reaping. 

 

Intimidation runs rampant in our society today.  Many suffer from poor health caused by the effects of fear, anxiety, stress, depression and even paranoia.  These are all forms of intimidation, which is a fancy schmancy word for fear.  As a society we have learned over the years to mask these symptoms, rather than deal with them.  The pharmaceutical companies earn billions of dollars in revenue each year from drugs that mask fear.  When I was a medical moderator I would hold meetings with physicians who prescribed mood altering types of drugs to their patients.  I found out that there are a few dozen drugs that are prescribed to help people mask or cope with one or another form of Timidity.

 

You will serve what you fear.  Many Christians know and stand on scriptures to help them conquer fear.  As we explore the meaning of the word intimidation we will find out how a spirit of intimidation (fear) gets its power from us.  Look at II Timothy 1:7.  Some bibles translate this verse as “the Lord has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.  Although this is correctly translated I believe that there is a better and more accurate translation.  The Revised Standard Version (RSV) really gives a great translation of this verse.

 

Timothy 1:7 - for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control (RSV).
