Becoming Mighty
in the Lord

If you don’t submit to human authority then you will never be able to walk in Godly Authority.

The word Subjection means: helpless, weakness or inability.  It conveys a total dependence upon someone in authority and demands complete submission to their authority.  When we quote the phrase “In the Name of Jesus” we are trying to invoke the power and authority that is associated with the name of Jesus.  We as Christians should know that we are powerless to battle demonic (spiritual) forces in our own strength.  We know that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (flesh), but mighty through God to the pulling down of Satan’s strongholds (II Corinthians 10:4).

If you have seen the movie “Gladiator”, think back to one of the very first scenes.  The armies are gathered on the battlefield.  There are thousands and thousands of warriors ready for battle on each side.  The Roman army has the high ground.  They start a volley of flaming arrows and catapult large clay vessels of a flammable liquid that burst into flames on contact.   This is done to reduce the enemy’s numbers and to make them tired before they get to the battle line.  After a sufficient number of the enemy are either dead, wounded or demoralized the Roman army starts to move their infantry solders forward.  If you have the movie, replay the opening scene.

Now consider what would happen if before a single arrow was shot or any other weapon was used against the enemy forces, a single Roman soldier broke ranks and ran down the hill all by himself?  No one gave an order to attack and no one else is following him.  He alone is running at the enemy’s battle lines, yelling, screaming and waving his sword.  How long do you think it would be before he was hacked to little pieces by the thousands of enemy soldiers?  In my opinion the guy would not have a snowball’s chance in (a hot, dry place).  You are probably thinking how foolish would that be, no one would ever do that.  Or would they?  The fact is that many Christians take on the enemy of our souls in the same way.  They just run at Satan’s battle lines, yelling and screaming and expect the enemy to just fall over dead before they get there…
