Believe it or not you will learn how it is good to have hypocrites in your church and how interaction between other believers will help you to grow mighty in the Lord. You will learn how to grow in discernment, correct other believers, choose friends and why you need to pray for your enemies.
The word Kindergarten is a German word that translates: Kinder (Child) Garten (Garden) or a place where children grow. Well church is one place where believers (God’s Children) grow and develop. We need this (Interaction) experience to Become Mighty or else we will stay immature believers and will never be able to handle correction. I believe that a person who is able to handle “strong meat”, in the spiritual sense, is one that can handle correction without getting offended. Milk is good for babies but will never give you enough nutrition to become a healthy adult (see Hebrews 5:14). The reason that we become Stronger when we fellowship with believers is because they are at different levels in their walk than we are. Some will be immature in areas and it will expose immaturity in us. Others will be stronger in areas and we can learn by their example or counseling. Some will be less mature than you and your example will help them to develop their walk. Also sometimes when we see immaturity in others it will expose immaturity in us. When immaturity is exposed in us, we can then take the necessary actions to get free from these strongholds. We need to know that repressing bad behavior is not Freedom. God’s word speaks of Freedom not repression. “Then you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)(RSV).
We do not get strong hanging around with a bunch of compromising, half hearted, backsliders who are living for the world. When we hang out with the worldly crowd it will cause us to fall into sin and stay weak. The Word of God is clear that we are not to keep company with the worldly. It is one thing to evangelize them, as Jesus did, but we are not to take part in their sin or allow sin in our presence. If you ever want to Become Mighty in the Lord, sever those relationships that are dragging you down and develop new ones with godly men and women. It is the same with bad habits. If you have a bad habit, you not only need to break it you also need to develop a good habit to take its place.
Another thing that you will experience during interaction are those who may worship or act differently than you do. The good thing about this is that it will help you to discern when you are walking in the spirit or in the flesh. If you find yourself becoming angry or overly upset, you most likely are in the flesh. On the other hand, if you are patient, longsuffering and can speak in love towards the person bringing the distraction, you probably are in the spirit.
One day while I was out of town, I visited a church. I was going through a tough time and was hopeful that I would hear a message of encouragement. The service started out with some wonderful praise and worship. I was starting to feel better and was ready to be fed the word of God, but just as the message started…
